The Mom Bod

40 weeks +2 pregnant…D-Day

One of THE biggest fears in our society surrounding pregnancy, is “The Mom Bod”…stretch marks, extra weight that hangs on for days… I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about that too!

My fears got even bigger when at 28 weeks pregnant I was put on bed rest because of preterm labor concerns. That meant all my exercising had to stop…I was NOT excited about that, but of course I’d do anything to keep my baby boy cooking full term. My entire pregnancy, optimal nutrition and exercise were a priority for me, not just in attempts to avoid excess weight gain, but because my goal was to grow a super baby! With clean eating habits, I gained about 28 lbs with my pregnancy. I was very happy with that. My body responded great to pregnancy, which I am SO thankful for! The human body, you guys, is UH-MAZE-ING!!!! It seriously blows me away that a woman’s body can grow a tiny human and return back to relatively normal afterwards!

Fastforward 3 months, and my body is starting to bounce back, but not as fast as I’d hoped. Guys, I feel weak. Super weak… My back is NOT happy with me due to a weak core. Everything feels out of shape, and I’m ready to feel STRONG again.

While breastfeeding, it’s SUPER important to keep calories and nutrition up. This is NOT a time to have a super low caloric intake. Baby will suffer, so that is not going to be my avenue of choice. BUT I will tell you what I’m about to do, and why I’m SO excited about it!

Let’s be real, going to the gym is NOT a possibility for me right now. Unless, I put my baby in my Tula Carrier to lift weights and jump on the eliptical, only to be interrupted by cries and poopy dipers and hunger pains…ha! Could you imagine walking into a gym and seeing a crazy lady breast feeding and doing shoulder lifts with the other arm?? Haha…that actually would be awesome, but I don’t have the lady balls to do that. But, I so badly want to get strong again for me and my family! This is why I’m SO excited to share with you guys the challenge group I’m about to enter for a 22 Minute military-style workout AT HOME!
